Message text > Could you explain, being speed=space/time, how can it be that, let a move time=1 and a hex=1, for a D.Va is 1=1/1 and for a D.III is 2=1/1? Put whatever figures you want in the formula, we have X=a/b and Y=a/b. For God's sake!
I'm afraid things are not as easy as that...
Just think that it's not the speed, but the ENGINE POWER/FUEL EXPENDITURE, which happens to depend in a very complex way on speed (not just a stupid power law), altitude change, and also turbulence (try asking marcuza ).
Different planes make "the same manoeuvre" differently. Altitude is hidden in the game, but it's still there.
A SNIPE can make a 2S manoeuvre without much effort (light aircraft with modern engine), while a BRISTOL (heavy aircraft with older engine) would have to use the engine at max power, losing stability (hence the fire penalty).
Planes with a 10L1 have to lose altitude to do that manoeuvre, while planes with a 10L2 can do the same manoeuvre "level", which requires more fuel but presents a BIG ADVANTAGE tactically (i.e. you can always do that move and you can do anything afterwards!!!)
For Physic's sake!
