Usually because it has a greater fuel tank and can stay on the map longer...
Anyway, I like this ranking system, but don't like the way it can be exploited... but keep in mind that ANY ranking system can be used to one's own advantage... so what's the matter? With any ranking system good pilots will stay at the top (rightfully) and pilots who will find a way to exploit it will also stay at the top... Hopefully everyone will be able to guess who is really good, and who only plays for the stats...
