One thing missing from this is history....Not all pilots who landed over enemy lines were captured...Some even landed, repaired their plane and then flew home....Some got lost in the fog landed on the other side of the lines looked at the map and then took off and flew home....So can this be represented in BM....The answer is NO....
Yes it can be frustrating when the enemy leave by the "wrong" side/edge of the map but thats life. I have done it when my plane was badly shot up. It happened in real life and was put down to a lucky escape......Try and imagine that all around the board are large clouds and that your opponent has escaped into a cloud bank.
For my 2p worth heres what I suggest
1 - exit from map side (halve points to person exiting and give these to all of the opposition flyers) 2 - exit from enemy map side (0 points to person exiting and give these points to all of the opposition flyers)
Most combats during WWI were inconclusive and it was the control of the sky rather than shooting down the most planes that counted. Even the Red Baron didn't shoot down aircraft every mission and he had some lucky escapes.
At the end of the day its a game played for fun.....
Anyway I'll shut up now.....
