I think that the fancy colours of the flying circus came from a desire to mask the airplane frames to the ennemy. In BM, it's just a way to find where your plane is more easily...

A nice idea, very likely almost impossible to implement, but that would however be somewhat historical, would be to allocate a colour frame to a player's plane according to his name and "fame" (being stats, contributions to BM, etc).

As an example, Gladiatore could have his own "Imperial" design, so that everyone would know at the first sight which plane has to go down first
