Message text Eeheh I'm actually very busy and I'll be busy till about 18 December...anyway, registration may happen during this time since it's the easy part, plus, I agree that with more people helping with "WarMaster duties", it won't be a big problem if I'm busy. You have proposed a WarMaster for each continent..well, maybe that's not strictly necessary..just having enough people will suffice I think, as everyone of us has different "time habits"...if you considered when I'm usually online, you'd believe I live on an island a few miles east of New York...while actually I live in Central Europe
Some comments on the latest proposed rules:
Standard games /BOLD] sorry, but this is a no-no The WWI Campaign is meant to give a certain feeling of really risking your live...otherwise, the whole thing about keeping your pilot alive would have a lot less sense. So only Advanced games. Yes, they can kill you with a single R damage...well, if you aren't brave (or foolish) enough, keep yourself distant from your enemies
17x12 maps /BOLD] I agree that they are too big, but I wouldn't disallow them. I mean, none is forced to join a specific game...if they really want to play there, let them have their 17x12 map However, it's obvious that games created by WarMasters will probably never have such a big map.. Uhm..wait, maybe 17x12 may be useful in missions like "go there an come back alive"
Emails /BOLD] I agree with darken that given the huge organization required, it will probably better to handle the necessary communication with emails. We might even think about setting up a special Mailing List for it. Obviously, WarMasters will still publish War reports on the forum to keep the community informed
Registrations /BOLD] Now that I think of it, it's not necessary to stop registration on 15th December...this is not a tournament!! People will be able to join at any time without problems However, it will be better to have a good amount of people registered before starting the Campaign to be sure that it's worth the trouble
Pilots per player /BOLD] As I have already said, each player may have one pilot for each country. And he can join as many games as he wishes with the same pilot at the same time. This is because we can't wait for a game to end to start another. Obviously, if the pilot is killed, the new pilot created of that country will replace the first one on all the unfinished scenarioes started with the killed one. The rule: "An reported pilot(not login name, but pilots registered in the system) taken in one scenario will not be allowed to join another until he fly back." can't be enforced since it would make the whole thing *too much slow*. I wanted to do it, but I realized it's not possible. The only way to try to do it would be to create lots of pilots for each player...I mean, to keep darken satisfied, he'd probably need about 30 pilots who fly at the same time for the WWI..
MIA, POW I prefer not to roll dices, so I'd give a fixed amount of time for both. Giving a certain chance of POW being treated as killed as tempting, but I guess we'll have a lot of Pilot Killed chits flying everywhere anyway . However, if other people really want that "killed while POW" chance, we might consider using Irony Dice Server so that the dice roll is trusted by everyone. (See Irony Dice Server at http://www.irony.com for more info) There is still a bit of problem about MIA/POW: "Once reported MIA/POW all his/her Current running games is abandoned!" If the player chooses to create another pilot, he doesn't need to abandon any game as a player..he will just replace the old pilot with the new one on those scenarios. However, what if the player chooses not to create a new pilot but to wait for his old one to come back? Obviously, it wouldn't be fair to make all the other players wait for him on the unfinished games, so I think that in this case, the player will still be able to play those games, but the results won't count anymore for any of his pilots...just as if his old had been replaced in every game by a different unknown rookie who will fly only that particular mission.
Game time speed /BOLD] I still like the idea of 2 real weeks -> 1 Campaign Month. This is because the WWI would last 22 Campaign Month, which are 11 real months. This way, we can have 1 WWI Campaign each year, with 1 month of pause to organize everything About "Stalled games", as players may join as many games as the want, there is no need to treat stalled ones as KIA. However, if some player *volountarily* "forgets" to play a specific WWI game (maybe because he'd be reported as killed in it), he will reported as KIA. In that case, I believe the "timeframe" shouldn't be 10 days, but dependant on the player activity. If he plays lots of games everyday, we will wait for less than 10 days, if he plays once in a while, we might wait longer. Obviously, the player will be immediately informed by email of the possible KIA as soon as his "strange forgetfulness" is noticed.
Point System /BOLD] Ok for the point system and the "fired points" only. I would rephrase the last sentence ("For an non-fire plane fly back home, the max point he/she can get is 10") as "Coming back home alive will add 10 points to your score". Plus, I would change GodOfWar/Emperor with something more "in theme" as the previous ones.
Medals About the Medals, I'd say no to the "automatically revived" on the Medal of Courage. There is no Courage if you know you can't be killed. Plus, I think even a Rookie could earn it..if he has courage enough Last thing, 200 battles without being killed...uhm..no one has ever done that on Youplay I think
That's all for now...
