Forum Message
| | Message text Hi all fans of BM,
Further to the discussion of http://www.youplay.it/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=11694 I and bluedragon will be the Warmaster of this campaign. We are still finding the best way to organize it. Any comments?
The planned start date I would suggest on 15th Dec 2004. To register either you give me a mail to bm at eyebeamasia dot com. or bluedragon. Also would bluedragon give me a personal email so that we can exchange idea more effectively.
Currently participants is BlueDragon, Bramley Bomber, darken, imdog, tomski, Monkey Hanger, Zif, Lawtygrr, Dibbs, akaisuisei. Would the following participants pls send a personal email to bm at eyebeamasia dot com for registration?
This campaign is open for all, but I would suggest player at least login once each day to join. Otherwise, you will find you always mark as dead
Regards

Introduction The War would last a long period of real time, and planes/scenario availability would change over time. Campaign and ranking system is not easy to implement with the current system. So why not create one for our own?
Individual Game setup Games which belong to the WWI Campaign must be: Distinctive title, so that anyone joining them knows, what he is joining.
Either 8x8 / 10x12 maps 17x12 maps is too large and only snipe and big plane, to speed up process. 17x12 map is disallowed.
Only in passworded standard/advanced games. Already explained but I would point out that allowed only advanced games may limit some player (especially me) as I always result a PK (pilot killed) in head to head fight. so standard game pls pls pls.
Plane Selection The War would last a long period of real time, and planes/scenario availability would change over time. You can only fly planes which belong to the current time frame or an older one. (So you can't fly a Sopwith Snipe on July 1918 but you can fly either a Spad XIII or a Fokker-D. VII or any other plane available before that date.)
Reporting of Games result: IMPORTANT * The historical time progresses as proposed but each player must report his kills and he dies whenever he is reported or acknowledged as killed. It doesn't matter if some of his kills belong to games which started after the game in which is killed. The only thing which matters is how many kills you managed to report before someone makes known you are killed It think this a nice idea: we can't follow the timeline exactly, but we get the added bonus of the "report your kills" feeling, which is what actually happened in the WWI.
* Each player will have to report his kills in a thread in the forum (or maybe using email). Players may report their kills of a particular game only after they finished or escaped the game alive (or when they come back from MIA in some cases).
They won't assign kills if they are unreported, they'll just acknowledge deaths. Consider WarMasters as the base leaders who await your squadron to come back home. If you don't come back home, they know you're dead, but they don't know who you shooted down before being killed.
* Your squadron mates *may* report your kills if they come back home safely.
* Pilots with 5 or more kills will be known as "Aces". "Aces" can be acknowledged as dead at any time a WarMaster checks a game and finds they are dead, even if the game hasn't ended yet. Consider this as if the Aces are so good and famous that people on the ground recognize their planes when they crash down or explode in the skies. Obviously, when that game ends, they will not be acknowledged as dead again. Warmaster The organizers will be called "WarMasters" (but if you have better names, tell me ) and they will check games routinely to acknowledge deaths and confirm reported kills on finished games.
I suggest a Warmaster for a contient. E.g. One for asia-pacific, one for europe, one for Latin-America and one for middle asia.(is there any pilots from Iran) And players in that contient registerd to that region warmaster. 1. The warmaster can organize matches that is near-by. so may speed up games. 2. Shared workloads.
Pilots rules Email required Given the above rules, it's not a big problem if players do not move. However, having a ready email address to contact players will probably be useful, so I guess that email will be required, as suggested. Two sides: Forcing people to choose only one side (German or Allied) might be a nice idea to increase competition but it has a big problem. If each player plays only one side the total "sum" of played scenarios must be balanced, to give both sides the same chance to win the war...and that may be difficult to make. Instead, without fixed sides, you can play any scenario, because it's people choice to play a single scenario, whether if it's balanced or not....while on the long run, whichever side wins, they will be winner so they don't care about the overall balance Max no. of pilots per player The max no. of pilots is one per each country, but each pilot can join as many games as he/she could, unless he/she is reported as MIA/POW/died/kill. Pilots declaration Each player must declare on Turn 1 what pilot he is going to use, especially if he has multiple pilots available for that plane (for example, both French and British pilots can fly the Niueport-17 on Jan-17).
MIA/POW Pilots who exit the board from the north/south borders are automatically MIA (Missing in Action)
Pilots who exit the board from the enemy side are considered POW (Prisoners of War). They will be treated as MIA, but they'll need a longer time to come back home.
If you get shot down, your pilot will be MIA. You can wait his return for a fixed amount of time (let's say one real month) without playing that nationaily OR you can choose to declare him dead forever and create a new pilot immediately.
Once reported MIA/POW all his/her Current running games is abandoned!
if one month in BM equal to one week in real life. MIA = 1D6 x BMweeks
e.g. one missing pilot will be rolled by warmaster of a 6 sided dice and determine his no. of BMweeks missing e.g. a dice of 4 equal to 4BMweeks = 1 real week. The warmaster will email the players he/she can use the pilots again.
POW = 2D6 x BMweeks, if both diced is 6 rolled a dice, if it is 5,6. POW become KIA(kill in action). Sometimes there will be chance prisoner can made an escape or be killed in Prison. So it tells people not to run away of the wrong side Dead of pilot The historical time progresses as proposed but each player must report his kills and he dies whenever he is reported or acknowledged as killed. It doesn't matter if some of his kills belong to games which started after the game in which is killed. The only thing which matters is how many kills you managed to report before someone makes known you are killed If you get killed/plane exploded during a scenario, your pilot is dead. You can create a new one, but his stats will be at 0. So if you want to have an ace boasting lots of victories, you'd better stay alive... Retirement A player can declared his pilot to retired. Once a pilot is retired, his record is fixed and no longer the pilot can be used again. The records will be kept in my BM records of Youplay which will now renewed [Monthly] haha
Games time in BM A month in Youplay = a week in real life, for some quick players, like darken and Tnt. They always online so they can achieve higher rank if they wish. And as many games as they wish. For normal players, they should come at least once a day. The Warmaster decide that the YouPlayIt WWI Campaign will last for how many BM/real months. Non-ending games. Games which doesn't end within the end of the War are considered as "ininfluent" for the outcome of the War. However, if an Ace has been acknowledged as dead during that game, his death will still be valid. Stalled(Inactive games) To speed up games sequence, non-moved pilots (didn’t move for 10 real days and not give any notice to opponents and/or warmaster) will be considered dead/KIA.
Points system Origin concept from game book but with modification: 0-50 points - no title (rookie/pupil) 50-100 points - Airman (veteran) 100-200 points AND > 4 matches - Sergeant (First Lieutenant) 200-500 points AND > 8 matches - Master Sergeant 500-800 points AND > 12 matches - ACE/Captain 800-1200 points AND > 20 Matches - Major 1200 and up, and have one medals - Colonel 2000 and up, and have two medals - General 4000 and Up, and have three medals - God of War/Emperor!!(Gladitore, do u want it?) Only fired planes count. To avoid peaceful match ( where every players just try to keep safe and avoiding hurt and just dancing around until one side no fuel). Only fired planes points will be counted. For an non-fire plane fly back home, the max point he/she can get is 10.
Medal /BOld] Badge Awards: We will make up a whole ranking system based on kills and completed missions, which will give pilots the opportunity to gain ranks and badges. A pilot *might* lose ranks if he retires "too early" and his wingmen report him as "coward" when coming back home (*if* they manage to come back home.. ). We might give specific rules to this case or skip the loss of badges altogheter. An reported pilot(not login name, but pilots registered in the system) taken in one scenario will not be allowed to join another until he fly back.
The Medal of Honor: Fly in a team battle, perform one of the following act. 1. All his partner escaped/died, with more than 4 enemies in the skies. He can shoot down all the planes/or made them escaped. 2. Fly in Single seat plane (so herbalstat and bristol is out of this title) with broken engine with a)at least 10 rounds, b)able to flee but choose not to, Risking his lifes to save his collegues (thats mean, not just dancing). c)Deliver damages to opponent, (I never tell he can survived in the battle but sure if one can survived in this situation, he will received this title)
The Medal of Courage : fly in any encircled scenario (that means 1 vs 6) able to destroy 4 enemy and stay alive / kill all his enemy in Red baron scenario. or any CEO challange (abled to Kill 4 enemy and stay alive) **In entering this scenario, the pilots will declare he wish to earn this medal, even he is killed or shot down, he will automatically revived. Also, only ACE and Up can target for this medal, (that means not for beginner and rookie) The Medal of loyalty : fly in 200+ battle and manage to survive. I think even the webmaster will award you this title The Medal can be accumulated, that means he can earn 3 medal of courage and 1 medal of loyalty.
Special Mission Setting up special missions (like: you must bring your Halberstadt in that spot and back.), with special bonus points. (That's difficult. ideas welcome) Statistic Statistics will be collected about all the pilots, to see who is the best living (or dead) Ace of all the War
Also, we will collect general statistics to decide who is winning the War...the German or Allied ones?
