Message text Being new to youplay, and not to Blue Max as a whole, I noticed the following:
1. in tabletop blue max games, quite a lot of invisible info can come from gestures, looks, the turning of the maneuver key, etc. This info is basically missing here, and this means I cannot guess correctly what kind of a player I have in front of me. Is he rash, angry, or what?
2. with 2nd edition rules, stalls were a bit more advantageous. If you stalled and someone passed on top of you, it was a kill. WIth 1st edition ones, a stall and an 11L1 will mean a speed tie, thus no kill.
3. playing more than one game here means (at least for me) basically losing track of a lot of useful info. For example, what happened 3 moves ago? I always knew that in tabletop, and I could guess player trends when point 1. was not enough. I don't know that on youplay. I simply cannot remember.
4. And of course, with the amount of planes running round in some scenarios, the change of being caught by a stray shot while stalling is higher (I didn't quite use to play 5vs5 on tabletop...), *bang*
For the sum of these four reasons, I tend to consider the infamous "chicken maneuver" (I give you "S" tail, I stall, you pass, I kill) not quite as useful as it was on tabletop, and stalls something to be very careful about... But that does not mean that they are not useful at all (or always dangerous...)
Your mileage may vary.
