Message text OMG !!
They really didn't fight for fame and money and glory, with only some exception (about glory) who is less then 1% of total.
They fight cause they were in war, exactly as you and me would do now if our country would call in a ipotetic global conflict. They wake up in the morning, get mission assigned, and start to flight, and you bet most of WWI pilots would be very happy if they don't meet any enemy machine in their missions.
I thank God I born in an age where i don't need to fight any war, and this is a very lucky "window" of time. If i ask myself "what would u have done if u were in WWI?" I can reply : -If i were in trenches I wouldn't have survived one month of combats and die in the mud from shelling. -If I were in the air I wouldnt have survived one month of combats and died in the air from fire, omg.
So better to stay out of that.
The brigade stationed in my city, was "123° Infantry, Chieti". It left for the front in July 1915 and by August it was almost totally destroyed . We always talk about WWI in terms of slaughter and massacre, but i guess we will never really fully understand how much the hell it was slaughtering and massacrating.
nothing of really glorius.

Those fighting in WWI is really what we call the "ancient" Art of war in the sky. They are all like knights in the Middle Age. Carrying their lance (machine gun and bullets) and riding on their war-horse (plane) to fight for victory (fame, money, woman ) Very war-man-ship (if their is really such term)
