I agree with Nick proposal.

Not because a retiring pilot with engine down or heavily damaged plane is a coward, but because the player(s) that remain in the sky should be the awarded and maybe declared victorius.

After all the dogfighting was the reason to control the sky and let same side recon and bombers planes to do their mission safe.
