| Message text Yes, we have simplified several things, and for the most part I think it's been good. And needed. Remember, ftf Blue Max lets the player choose before shooting what sort of burst length he wants (and whether to fire at all). If we put ammo limits and the "burst" question into this format we will either have to slow the games down by giving players a choice before every shot, or we will have to set up some sort of "profile" in which a player can state what his preferences are. Long burst with a single gun at long range? I don't think it would be done very often!
I very much agree that the one-gun penalty from the original game is too severe, and think the change that was proposed would be a good one. And a simple one which would work for many planes.
By the way, yes, there is a 2 gun N 17 in the original Blue Max, but no one has mentioned that the maneuer chart penalized the plane by taking away some things that the 1 gun N 17 can do. BM did this for several of the very rare 2 gun versions of planes with small engines which normally carried one gun (the Sopwith Tripe is another example-- there were something like 4 or 5 of them with 2 guns, but the extra weight-- guns and ammunition-- had an effect on the plane's performance.).
I think any game developer would welcome the chance for THOUSANDS of games playtested and can't imagine the blue max folks would object.
And wouldn't it be wonderful getting in the extra airplanes?
