Just set up a game to check it out. Actually, I set up one of each and maybe more of "He fell... etc etc" to get a better feel of it all. But I think the 6xSpads will be a vast improvement over the 6xNieuports. Still they have the whimpy single gun, but more fuel and a bit more flexible in that its a 8L1 and not a 8L2. So a speed 1 and 2 are actually those speeds.
