| | Message text I guess, I don't care that much for the new free placement option as it is now. Too random. It doesn’t look right to me with the planes scattered all over individually. Yeah, I know..."don't use it then!" But I didn't post just to gripe. I like that some strides have been taken toward altering the set-up from the standard format to something different. But I think it could be better.
I would prefer to see the opposing sides begin in some sort of formation. Perhaps a formation could be randomly assigned to each sides planes from a limited set of choices (classic “V”, echelon, box, diamond, in line, etc.). Or maybe the first player to sign up for each side could select his team’s formation.
Another option that I would like to see is to have the map divided into 9 roughly equal areas for set-up purposes: 3 rows by 3 columns. Randomly put one side’s formation in the center area facing in a random direction. The opposing team's formation would begin in one of the other eight areas (random) also facing in a randomly determined direction.
