We're not sweeping anything. In the last days we spent long hours writing emails, posts, and talking together about the best approach to this problem.
I can't talk for Spinabros. He said something to me via mail, and for me that was enough, but emails are private, and the good manners say that I'm not allowed to post in a public forum anything someone said to me privately via email.
Do you still believe, you have acted correctly by taking one man's word against the disgust of the majority?
Let's see what happened by a webmaster point of view.
We were away for 3 days during Week-end, and no one was checking the forum. As soon as we returned, there were several threads containing insulting posts, and we found a few emails in our
mailbox from (real) users which were not happy with what they red in our forum.
I had to delete those threads because the current forum code doesn't permit to kill single messages inside a thread (This will change as soon as I will stop replying to messages and posts like this one ).
On the same time Spinabros sent us a very polite email. We wrote each other a couple of email, then I was satisfied enought to give him a second chance.
There were 3 different actors in this movie:
A player who write polite email asking for a second chance.
Some players writing threads containing insults on the forum.
Some players asking for a more polite forum
What would you do if you were in a webmaster shoes?
In another thread I was simply asking to NOT write here post against other players, because it is practically sure that in the end those threads will turn in a flame war.
Simply write the offending name to postmaster@youplay.it We have a lot of possibilities to contact a player, and if he is acting wrong, and he is not willing to change the way he act, we have the possibility to put him out of the game.
On the other hand, if he will be willing to change I will welcome him, as long as he is not lying to me.
Now, try to think what could have happened if the actors of this movie were the following ones:
Several players sending complain emails to the webMasters
A player who (may be) acted in a wrong way and never wrote anything to the webmaster
I hope this explained our point of view on this matter.
