Just a comment: I do not think it's fair to decide the starting hex in advance, but we could generally agree to start free placement games near the center of the map. Anyhow is probably better to jump on the vulture from multiple directions then to fly in "superformations"
Concerning fairness, I think it's fair. Just immagine briefing befor take-off: "Fery vell, sirs, ve vill fly in a very close formazion hunting fur bombers, any kwestion?"
But, after all, Avengers were born to be fun, so everybody can add a little "random noise" to his starting hex, or ignore it altogheter.
As for encircling attacks: the encirclement must be made of groups of planes. E.G., with 9 DI, 3 from noth side, 3 from south and 3 in center. If anybody is too far from mates and too near Gulliver, it's doomed unless he runs like hell half the map. Especially on large maps. We should state a few "meeting hexes" to group sub-formations.
Another idea would be: meeting point center of map. IOW, if you "warp in" in a favourable position, so much the better, otherwise run like hell for center of map, and others do the same. Result, you never have to fly more than half map to get help. Usually, when this happens, teammate zoom for where it starts while the "bait" engages. But usually half of them arrive too late to save a drowning witch... |
