| | Message text Well, welcome aboard. As it has been noted, the tactical advices set up by Swartz are a good start
http://www.youplay.it/play/bm_TacticalAdvices.asp
but the three most important rules to remember are, of course
1. Shot and not be shooted
which immediatly leads to
2. Tail and not be tailed
and
3. Stall is NOT your friend
Then these are my personal advices:
Do not overstimate special manouvers. Since you need to perform a straight move the turn before they are extremely predictable. And remember that someone tailing you gets a bonus (usually +2) on the fire table, so performing a straight followed by a loop (like 29S2) when someone is tailing you is not a good idea. Same thing could be said for dancers and 11L/R manouvers (which are 180° turns).
Do not worry to spend your fuel, chose always what you think is the best manouver regardless of fuel expenditure, but always, always be sure to exit from YOUR side with your last fuel points.
Try to guess your enemies moves and always evaluate all the risks of your moves. Keep in mind that everyone shooting at you from distance one has a reasonable chance to down your plane. Don't concede this chance to your enemies. And, if possible, plan at least two moves in advance...
If you do not have a good reason to perform a speed one or a speed three move try speed two. The next turn you will have a wider manouver choice.
Runners generally have speed and good firing power, but are very difficult to turn, so grabbing the tail of your enemy is even more important than with dancers. On the other hand remember that stalling with dancers is even more dangerous: someone grabbing your tail will exactly know for sure in which hex you will end up next turn...
And my personal BM etiquette:
Do not care about stats, they are not really meaningful. Fly just for fun
Advanced rules are the ones resembling more faithfully the original and wonderful boardgame. So I always fly advanced scenarios.
Once you are having fun fly for kills and do not care about points.
Fly fair and balanced scenarios, they are more fun.
Always exit from your side (left for allies and right for germans), even if you are without fuel or with a broken engine.
Feel free to have fun of your defeated enemies and accept them mocking you when they manage to kill you After all is just a game
See you in the skies...
