suppose you have a runner (any plane with a 2S1 but without 10L2) and because of critical damage you cannot do restricted manoeuvres, nor do speed 3 manoeuvres.
This means you can only turn 1 hex-side per turn. That is, you are practically out of the game. If another plane ever reads your tail you are in really bad waters...
What do you do, then?
I usually fly pointlessly around the board to distract my enemies from my comrades, but it is almost useless (and usually a bit suicidal)... let's say I do it for chivalry

Well, how bad it is depends also on the kind of runner. If you are flying a SE5a, Pfalz DXII or Spad XIII which do not have lateral stalls, then you are really in deep troubles. But i do not like to flee before my fuel is all used up (unless I am very damaged and I am playing against an SS, either Snipe or Siemens), so I tend to hang around.
So the only strategy I suggest is:
Tail and not be tailed
But trust me, it is worse to fly on a crippled dancer which cannot do speed 3 manouvers. Expecially if you are up against runners. Then all your movement choice is restricted to four hexes (with one being a stall). |
