Even though I'm a youplay ADDICT---very few games at the same time, but I log in at least ten times a day on weekdays (and at least twice a day on week-ends)

The way I feel towards this site is: these are just ( ) games, we are playing just for the , and it's always to wait for the other players to move.

I would also like to say that the "community" here is very very nice and in passing recall some facts that happened during my stay here.

gugliandalf's crisis.

gugliandalf is one of the "oldest" YouPlayers, the BlueMax scenario master, and a valian knight of the air. He organised the "Torneo delle Nazioni", the largest YouPlay tournament so far (that I know of!)

I concur with flying neko on this one...Please NO automove. I have been bad at not moving in the past but that is not why I argue now NOT to implement automove. I can see several people being tied up at work, personal life, moving house (happened to me) or PC problems losing thier games and desroying their stats. Alos think ahead chaps, there will be players joining games with known slow movers just so they can shoot them dowm and improve thier stats.

Then at some point he just disappeared. I remember discussing with my Feuerkugel wingmen why he wasn't turning up. Every once in a while triko would send a mail to all of us asking "where is gugliandalf???". I remember clicking on his username and seeing that he had logged on but not moved. (Newbies may think I'm crazy, but I'm sure that many other players have done the same!)

At some point marcuza took up the organisation of TdN. The webmasters asked for a replacement scenario master, and Monkey Hanger replaced Gugliandalf. But all of this was months after guglia had disappeared!

until, one day...

Gugliandalf returned! Well, I'm glad automove didn't waste his games.

No new pilot for Crash and Burn's account

Nearly six moths ago Crash and Burn said he was going to leave YouPlay, and wanted someone to replace him and finish his games.

http://www.youplay.it/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=10441

He is one of the best pilots around, with impressive stats:

Crash and Burn -kills 835 - deaths 145 - dif 690

Who would want to shoot down Crash and Burn's plane WITHOUT Crash and Burn sitting inside the plane???

Long story short, we convinced him to keep his account.

he still logs in every now and then, and I'm very happy he does.

back to the main subject

Now back to the proposals...

I've seen a ("soft") automove rule has been implemented on WS&IM.

Gonzo, for example, proposed to introduce customisable deadlines, to be chosen when the game is created.

http://www.youplay.it/beta/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=869

Now some games can last more than 30 moves, so if (for example) I joined a 1-day-timeline game thinking that I'll be able to move, some unexpected circumstance might keep me from connecting dayly, and I wouldn't want my games to be wasted by -say- a flu

And if I'll have a car accident and break my leg, I'm sure I'll be consoled by the thought that my games are still there, waiting for me like they are!!!

At the same time, I think that a stalled game is much better than a game where my opponent's plane stupidly keeps on repeating a 2S1, or does foolish random manoeuvres Who would want to play like that one???

the request

Even if I should never miss a deadline...

Even if my automoving opponent is just a newbie, someone I had never played against, and the game is stalled at the third move...

PLEASE, DO NOT IMPLEMENT AUTOMOVE!!!
