| Message text I guess it's just a sign of the disease. Anyone reading about the planes knows the troubled history and very limited use of the SS-D 3 and 4 (they should have a random roll every few turns to see if their engine siezes up!). It's probably the most commonly used plane on the site, followed closely by the Snipe.
And maybe it's human nature to want to take out the best against much weaker opponents. If it was "for real" that's certainly how I'd want it to be. (Give the other guy a good chance to kill you? Heck with that!)
But as a game I wish things were more...like a fun, even game.
Maybe the answer would be to program a "multiplier" of sorts, rather like the olympics. If a SS D 3 shoots down a N-17, that shouldn't be worth very much. If the N-17 is can shoot down the SS, well, that's something special! At the end of a game, the points scored get factored against the "ability level" of the planes involved and when the guys with the best planes include the negative multipliers, it means they need to do better than just pick on weak things in order to actually win games.
I'm not a programmer-- maybe it's easier to change human nature than to do this! |
