Just some small notes to Morsac and to all other plane makers (webmasters correct me if I'm saying anything I shouldn't)... I am reowrking all planes for the new verison (done 25 out of 100) and found out these hints may be useful:
1. don't "outline" planes (e.g. tail of number 92), unless that is really the color scheme. If that is the case, then consider antialiasing the outlining color (on the inside) a little.
Yes, I know: 92's tail is not the best I drew, but was my first attempt. I made better on other planes. If I'll have time, I'll redraw the tail.
2. try not to antialias outside, but keep a very sharp border with the transparent background. This helps making better scaled-down images (in fact, about 95% of the work I am doing is removing the outer antalising on the original planes)
There's some other problem with trasparent background: when I rotate and scale the planes the transparent background "merges" sligthly with the aircraft (otherway, the aircraft border become very sharp, with a strong saw effect). Any idea to avoid the problem?
2.b. when you do "strings" (e.g. the albatross and brisolt ones) make them black and a single pixel
No problem, I made single pixel-string, slightly anti-aliased, but in blue, bucause the string of original planes were blue. I'll make them in black in the future
3. be careful about the transparent color. If you chose white, there is a chance that the allied symbols will be transparentized too (this is esp. true of the old planes)
I use light gray, who is less evident on blue board; in the future I'll try to use the same blue of the board.
