In each match (of two games) there should be a winner defined by:

hm.... this is simple and effective, it worked well in a two games match, but what if A shoot down B, B shot down C, C shot down A, is this rules still work?
If each player won one match each - and shot his opponent down - then total points for both pilots and higher point total wins.
That's my argument, what if a players know he can points win in his group, then aimed for a longer fight?
If this is still a tie then (I dunno have 'em fight again ) or call it a tie in the early rounds In italian mode match (where each players face the other players in the same group twice), tie match is unfavourable to both pilots, but I get your point. That's why I suggest a more objective point ratio system.
After completing the above we should have something like this (read as wins-losses-ties) player A 3-0-0 player B 0-1-2 player C 1-1-1 player D 1-1-1 From this example, player A has the best record - and automatically advances. Players C and D are tied for second. In this case - compare their head to head records. If C won, then C advances. If D won, then D advances. If they tied then (I dunno have 'em fight again ) Note, if you do not allow a match to end in a tie, then this last problem will never occur. Just my two cents worth - it should be simple... Simple is always beautiful, it is a good point of mentioning of tie. As I copied the templates from blue dragon and marcuza, I found marcuza suggestion of points system is a better alternative. So that's why I raise a clarification here. As I glance of the current result. There may be result argument over several groups..., so I wish to propose a solution beforehand to avoid frustration. but anyway Thanks TnT for your suggestion
