The entire ranking system needs to be reworked from scratch.
I suggest you (as ashtar said) to not care too much about statistics.
We will change statistics in the future, but actually this is not a priority for us. We think that we are here mainly to have fun, not for climbing the statistical ladder.
Try to see this as an opportunity: you can lose as many games as you like, experimenting a lot of different tactics, without have to worry about your position in statistics 
If, and when we will implement a new statistical system, we'll have to start again all statistics from zero.
After that, you'll have your right position in statistics, but you'll lose the possibility to experiment
Have fun (even without statistics)
