The World Boardgaming Championship has just ended in Lancaster, PA, USA, at least as far as Wooden Ships & Iron Men is concerned. This year I only managed a 3rd place finish. I blame the idiot who wrote my moves down!
It was a well-attended affair and I mentioned "youplay" to everyone, hoping to get some additional recruits for this site.
DerekYou come in third and have the guts to show your face around here again? And you made it worse by telling everyone you play here? They must think we all suck! Ye gods, man, have some dignity!
Actually, congrats. I hope the organizer's son or whoever it was didn't win. How many were there? My son and I went to GenCon over the weekend. There are almost no old board games left, like Third Reich, WSIM, Kingmaker, etc. They still have a Diplomacy tournament. There was a game called Sail Power I wanted to see but we weren't there at the right time.
They had a room with miniatures, which I've never really played but always wanted to get into more. Some were playing a Blue Max-type game with planes on thin stands, like a wire coat hanger, so they could play with altitude also. Looked like fun.
