The speed of games was very mixed overall. A couple of squadrons in particular finished their games extremely quickly. On the other hand, one particular squadron moved painfully slowly (in one game, after 67 days only 8 turns had elapsed at the end of the tournament).
It's more of a case of commitment from particular squadrons. Some pilots are bound to have unforeseen things happen (eg loss of internet connection) or foreseen circumstances (holidays) and that's absolutely fine as far as I'm concerned. However, I always felt it was clear that this was a big commitment and I think next time we'll need to make sure all of the squadrons entering are committed to playing week-in, week-out and are committed to playing as quickly as they can (to a degree). A stricter automove system would be welcome perhaps (it only came in half way through the tournament).
I think 4 x 4 games are just right, as we're playing as squadrons after all. 5 x 5 would be just a little too long and 3 x 3 would lose the squadron feel a little too much I think  |
