Thanks for checking me As I play fewer games than most of the "big" names on this sight, I am often overlooked. I also don't play 1v1 games.

I think position is a fine metric. A lot of people, like myself, do pay attention to score. If we are judging the site as a whole, then score along with position, would be a good way to go. If we are measuring leagues only, it seems that position might be superior.

A down side to position only scoring is for players in 1v1, or maybe, 2v2 games. There is a problem with players getting a slight edge and then leaving the board. Players getting their total score figured in discourages that.

If for scenario statistics, score would be valid. But for site statistics, score may be the least important. Average League position is an interesting idea.

Thanks for suggestion.

Just had a thought that throws all ideas out.

You are not considering who is in the league and therefore who the opponents are.

I cannot remember the last time I fought a league that did not contain at least three or four top players from the site. Against them my statistics are quite rightly poor and both my survive/kill ratio and my league position are very low.

Does this mean that I am a poor player - a novice?

Or does this mean that statistics are pointless?

The only real way you could limit the effect of new players from disrupting games is by introducing a limit - e.g. you can only play in a league for every twenty completed games. Once you have completed one hundred games you can be a member of five leagues. If you haven't completed twenty games then you cannot join a league.

This introduces a new player to the site gradually and a simple explanation on the leagues page and a warning explaining why they cannot join another league reasonably simple to do as the system is already in place and just needs tweaking.

Trying to introduce a rank system, nice idea but far too many variables to make practical.

Of course if we want to really introduce a ranking system use the system in the rules.

Experience is only gained if you survive - as soon as you are "killed" you start again as a novice.

You can only tail when you have a certain amount of experience.

You only get the other skills by amassing further experience.

This system applies to all allocated games across the site.

Ranks are allocated according to the number of skills achieved.

You could include a "Rank" button during the game creation that allocates the game(s) to this system so not all games are used. This allows players to practice without the worry of being "killed".

Obviously how this would work in a league situation is open for discussion as being killed in a league game - how does that affect existing games underway? You get your starting rank until the game ends but any games started after your "death" start as a novice? I dunno, it is a crazy idea after all. If you want sense why are you reading this post from ME!
