Every king of statistics is flawed when you look closer at it.
Even if we'd give greter importance to "kills", there will be (for example) no sense anyway in using weaker planes in crowded scenarios.
To avoid this kind of problems there are 2 possibilities:
1) balancing scenarios using point correctors given by the overall planes performance in that scenario previously played games (this was proposed by FalconFab a lot of times ago)
2) giving greater importance to a "team performance" statistic.
Both these solution have problems too.
In the first case on the long run every scenario could became too balanced. Beside that, it won't be too easy explaining how points are computed for each side to newbie players, and this is very important, because if something is not too clear, there will be a lot of email and complains, and we are not willing to spend our time replying forever to the same answers
The second case can be invalidated by "traitors" plane infiltrated between opponents, or by a newbie using (in a very bad way) the better plane in your scenario. Then your team will be playing without an important plane and everyone on that side will be doomed.
This simply means that there is no perfect solution. There are always possibles "exploit".
Currently we are experimenting the "team performance" solution with WS&IM. We'll see if this will be an improvement to translate eventually to Blue Max, or a complete failure
Have Fun Fourth
P.S. There is a 3rd solution, that is the one we are using currently: "Don't mind about statistics!". Statistics are there only because someone likes them, but are complete meaningless. Just play and have fun |
