?!? There is no relation between the base you use to fire and the base others use to fire at you.
Every shot is detailed in the game history; if the shot you are talking about is the following:

you see how the base is composed:
distance 1 = base 7
stability A (Sopwith Triplane) = +2
single gun = -2
deflection = -1
tailing from last turn = +2
fired at in last turn = +1
= total = 9
