Ok, it's done. I linked it from the Planes chart page.
what do you need to create new planes (i.e. what images are needed)?
Since you were so kind to offer yourself to draw new planes for playing Blue Max, here we are with the starter kit
Here you can download all the planes images for 2 planes: Bristol F.2B and Halberstadt CL IIa. http://www.youplay.it/PLAY/IMAGES/bm_SamplePlanes.zip
File names follow this structure:
bm_pln_XX.gif (where XX is the plane code) This is the main image. The one we use on the plane chart. Dimensions are not fixed, but usually are around 100x84 (width x height) pixels. The 2 samples are greater than this because both of them have the observer onboard.
bm_pln_XX_Y.gif (where XX is the plane code and Y is the rotation value, with 1=NE and 6=NW, clockwise order) These are the images shown on the map for each rotation step. Images dimension are 60x60 pixels, but the game reduce it to 58x58 to better fit it in an hex. If there is more than 1 plane in an hex, the game engine reduce dimensions even more.
To create new plane images for an existing model, you need to use a plane code that doesn't already exists.
This is only a way to create new images for existing plane models. In a perfect world, every model should have 6 or more different images, so that there could be enough images for any kind of scenarios.
That's all. Thanks to be so collaborative, but obviously you can decide even now that you have no time to help us, and there will be no problem at all
