July 2nd 2019: Power Issues
We had a power failure a few nights ago. I was very surprised when my rather large battery backup died after only about 15 minutes. It's a APC 3000 RMS XL for those that care and it should have lasted well over an hour or two with the load I have on it. After running a few diagnostics, it turns out that it's time for a new set of batteries.
I've already ordered the new set and enclosure from Amazon. If you were thinking about making a donation, now is as good a time as any.

June 4th 2019: Account Cleanup
I'll be archiving a lot of old accounts that haven't logged in for a long time.
We have about 500 active players. Which is pretty cool.
But, there are around 16,500 user accounts. Many are completely defunct and the Email addresses just bounce. Some created an account and never played. Others only played for a short time. This is causing some minor issues with the game engine.
I'm going to start by archiving any account that hasn't logged in for the last 10 years. That's over 8000 of the accounts. Once I see how that goes, I'll archive the next batch of accounts that haven't logged in for the past 5 years. This is another 4000 accounts.
By Archive, I mean I'll make a copy of the account into a standalone table. Just In Case. However, if someone really wants to come back and play, they can simply make a new account.
I'll make a complete backup of the entire DB before doing anything. But you shouldn't notice a thing.
So,
Have Fun!
